Project Coordinator.
Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (http://www.sssup.it) is a public institution for university education.
The CRIM Lab (Centre for applied research in microengineering, http://www-crim.sssup.it) was established at SSSA in 1991, and now hosts over 50 full time researchers with interdisciplinary expertise. The CRIM Lab has state-of-the-art macro/microfabrication machinery and other facilities, which are mainly used for research in sensors, actuators and robotics for biomedical applications, and for bio-robotics. CRIM developed 10 international patents, and has been or is still involved in more than 10 national projects, 23 projects funded by the European Commission, 2 European Competence Centres, 3 European Networks of Excellence and several international projects and cooperations. Previous EU IP and Strep Projects coordinated by SSSA, involving CRIM and relevant to this proposal, are NEUROBOTICS (The fusion of Neuroscience and Robotics), BIOLOCH (BIO-mimetic structures for LOComotion in the Human body) and CYBERHAND (Development of a cybernetic hand prosthesis).
